A brief description of the authors
education and related experience:
I received an M. S. degree in geology from the University of Southern
California in August 1995, and have B. S. degrees in geology and geophysics from
the University of Minnesota (1990).
My teaching experience began in 1984 as a tutor with the Learning
Assistance and the American Indian Support Centers at Minneapolis Community
College (formerly). I tutored various math and science courses including
physical and historical geology, introductory and calculus based physics and
chemistry. At the University of Minnesota I was a teaching assistant for the
Physics Department, where I assisted in the instruction of various physics
classes as well as introductory meteorology. With the Department of Geology and
Geophysics, at the University of Minnesota, I assisted in the instruction of
their summer field course located near Gunnison Colorado. At the University of
Southern California where I was granted a teaching assistantship I taught 3
sections of either oceanography laboratory, or earthquakes laboratory per
semester. In 1994 I was an instructor for the University of Minnesota's summer
field course then located near Dillon Montana. Since January 1993 I have been
employed at Minneapolis Community and Technical College. There I have taught
physical and historical geology, general chemistry the accompanying laboratories
as well as several mathematics courses. With the geology courses and
laboratories I am in charge of curriculum development, as well as course,
laboratory and field trip organization. RESUME NICHOLAS W TAYLOR
