So-called Outcrop of Death in Gunnison County Colorado. These Paleozoic rock units are part of a recumbently folded footwall in a series of Cretaceous thrust fault sheets.  These thrust sheets are associated with the Laramide Orogeny partially responsible for the uplift of the Rocky Mountains. Individuals in picture are: (blue shirt) Professor James H. Stout (University of Minnesota); (white shirt) Thomas C. Brudos (Leighton  and Associates Los Angeles) and (yellow shirt) author.

Mission Statement (Geology Department)

The Department of Geology at Minneapolis Community and Technical College offers geology courses of the highest quality to science and non-science majors. Through classroom instruction and discussion, laboratory exercises and directed study the department’s goals are to prepare each student for advancement in his or her chosen field of study.
