uced
the irregular preterit forms, and now only need to practice them,
and because the vocabulary of food and parties have a lot of
overlap, I am combining chapters 2 & 3 into one.In order to pull this off, we need a map or plan, so here it
is.
In chapter 2, I want to focus on the food vocabulary (contextos) and the
grammar from 2.1 (we already learned it, now you'll be tested
on it) then from chapter 3, the topic of 3.1 (radical irregulars
we already learned) 2.2, which is difficult (indirect & direct
objects) The theme of 2.3
is very simple, and so is 2.4, so we can spend less time on
them in class, and depend on the workbook exercises more.
In chapter 3, there is little to do, except the party vocabulary,
which fits nicely with the food vocabulary. Grammar theme
3.3 is worth looking at, but doesn't really make sense without
the imperfect tense. It's a very strange place to put
this, in my opinion. We will add this to the content of
chapter 4. The content of 3.4 has already been taught, but
you should review this page to remember the prepositional
pronouns.
For the workbook (not the lab portion), here is what you need
to do.
Lección 2:Workbook Activities (starting p. 109)
Do pp. 109-110. For your own practice, I recommend
111-112, but you don't have to hand them in unless you want to.
Do them for practice with the IR stem changing preterit verbs.
Definitely do 2.2 (Double object pronouns) 113-114. This
is probably the most difficult grammar point of the entire
semester. Do not be too upset if you find it really hard.
It generally takes a couple of years to get comfortable with
this, but it's best to start early and keep practicing. On
the test, there will be a fairly small portion of the points
dedicated to this, so don't let it make you crazy, ok? If
you find the grammar rules frustrating, I recommend the
memorization of correct sentences on flashcards.
2.3 115-118 (Yes, you must write that composition)
Lección 3: do pp. 159-162
For the laboratory Activities, only do chapter 3 in its
entirety. (173-178)
The Panorama cultural section will cover Guatemala from
chapter 2.
